David’s leadership and management development experience spans the public, private and voluntary sectors. In the public sector David has run workshops on commercial awareness and change management for executive teams from central & local government teams.
In the voluntary sector David was CEO of a Microsoft founded International Aid charity with in excess of 1million beneficiaries across Africa. When major donor income declined, he re-structured and developed a diverse and sustainable income stream. As head of Learning & Development for a global logistics business in the UK David was responsible for the learning & development strategy for a UK business of 37,000 employees. With day to day “hands off” oversight of the junior programs, David designed and delivered Director level programs including for high potential executives.
At a central government level, he has spoken at All Party Parliamentary Groups as well as being a speaker at symposium events. His commercial, change management, negotiation and “messaging” experience has been gained in leadership in a turn-around business environment as well as mergers & acquisitions, both “friendly” and “unfriendly”.
Over the past five years David has been working with local authorities to develop commercial understanding & skills . In recent months he has been supporting NHS staff during the Covid-19 pandemic. In his spare time he does pro-bono work for charities seeking to develop sustainable income streams including both earned and grant income. His considerable and varied experience makes his style both very pragmatic and engaging.
